Kentucky Senate President position opens up as David Williams resigns

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- With David Williams out of the Kentucky Senate, who will take his place as Kentucky's top Republican?

The Senate President position is officially expected to open up Friday when David Williams resigns to become a circuit court judge in southern Kentucky.

Senate Majority Leader Robert Stivers hopes he won't face any competition in landing the job.

Stivers has the support of Senate President Pro Tem Katie Stine, who says she doesn't want the position herself.
