LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- The man who founded WDRB-TV has died. Elmer Jaspan founded the TV station in 1971, and was president until he retired in 1989.
Jaspan worked in broadcasting for 60 years. He started at a radio station in his hometown of Trenton, New Jersey while he was in high school.
He served as a director at the Philadelphia NBC affiliate starting in 1948. He directed the first network soap opera in 1951 and the national telecast of Eisenhower's first presidential campaign speech in 1953.
