Jeff Sagarin's computer number forecast a tough game for Louisville at Syracuse Saturday.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The lines for next weekend's college football games won't be available until later Sunday afternoon. But it's always interesting to get Jeff Sagarin's latest computer rankings and determine what his formula is predicting.
And what it suggests for the University of Louisville's trip to Syracuse Saturday is tough times for Charlie Strong's team at The Carrier Dome.
If you look at Sagarin's preferred predictor numbers, his formula puts Louisville at 74.97 power points. The Orange are 71.18. Give the home team 3.09 points.
That makes Louisville favored by .7.
I'm going to predict that the line is Louisville by 3 or 4.
What about Indiana's game with Wisconsin in Bloomington Saturday?
Sagarin's number suggest the Badgers by about 4 1/2 over Kevin Wilson's team.
Here is where Sagarin ranks all the local teams in his Elo-Chess and predictor ratings. Elo-Chess are the numbers that do not include margin of victory. They're also the ones used in the BCS formula. The predictor ratings do include margin of victory.
Here we go:
Louisville -- No. 24 in the BCS formula, No. 48 in predictor.
Kentucky -- No. 73 in BCS formula, 113 in predictor
Indiana -- No. 67 in BCS formula, 57 in predictor.
Western Kentucky -- No. 66 in BCS formula, 67 in predictor.
