LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Joker Phillips, whose firing was announced on Sunday, effective at the end of the season, will coach the University of Kentucky's final two football games, according to a release issued by the school.
There had been some question as to whether Joker would coach the remaining games. UK spokesman DeWayne Peevy said Sunday that the matter was to be determined.
Phillips will be available to speak to the media after Tuesday's regularly-scheduled practice.
The move gives Phillips, a Kentucky native and former Wildcat player, a chance to write a bit better ending than the 40-0 loss to Vanderbilt on Saturday.
UK will face Samford in its Commonwealth Stadium finale a week from Saturday, then will travel to rival Tennessee to end the season.
