LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Police say a Louisville woman swindled the government out of more than $52,000. Brooke Driver was arrested Tuesday morning.
Police say she lied to authorities, claiming that her son lived in her household.
Because of this allegedly fraudulent claim, police say Driver was able to wrongfully collect $48,267 in Medicaid benefits, and $4,148 in food stamps.
Driver has been charged with making false statements or misrepresentations to receive benefits.
Late Wednesday afternoon, Driver contacted WDRB News and said she disputes the charges. She said she didn't make the claims police say she did, and that it's all a misunderstanding.
