LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police say a man who wanted the cab he was riding in to stop grabbed the steering wheel while it was in motion with the intention of causing a crash.

According to the arrest report, it happened just after 3 a.m. Nov. 8 in the westbound lanes of Interstate 64. When police arrived, they found 35-year-old Martin Maxwell next to the cab. He allegedly smelled of alcohol, "was unsteady on his feet and had slurred speech."

Police say Maxwell told them he grabbed the steering wheel to get the driver to stop. Maxwell allegedly said he was angry about the service and wanted out of the cab.

He was arrested and charged with public intoxication and wanton endangerment.
