LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police have arrested two men in connection with several armed robberies, including a gas station robbery on Oct. 31 where a customer was shot in the back.
On Wednesday, police arrested 22-year-old Tony L. Trumbo and 21-year-old Jescell L. Whittle in connection with the Halloween robbery of the Speedway at 3030 Taylor Blvd.
Police say Trumbo was with Whittle and another unknown accomplice entered the business around 5 a.m. on Oct. 31 and demanded the business cash. According to the arrest report, Whittle was armed and began taking property from customer inside the store.
During the robbery, police say Whittle fired a single shot that struck a customer in the back. That customer was hospitalized with serious injuries but they were not considered life-threatening.
According arrest reports, Trumbo and Whittle were together when they entered the Thornton's at 4515 Poplar Level Road. Police say the two took business cash and took personal property from employees and customers.
Both are charged in connection with robbing the Cricket Wireless in the 3100 block of West Broadway.
Whittle is charged with several counts of first degree robbery and one count of assault. Trumbo is charged with three counts of first degree robbery. Both men entered not guilty pleas in court Friday morning. Their bond was set at $500,000.
Police are still looking for the third suspect in the Speedway robbery depicted in the surveillance images to the right of this story. Anyone with information is asked to call the anonymous crime tipline at 574-LMPD (574-5673).
