JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WDRB) -- Jeffersonville Police say they have made one arrest for murder in Tuesday's Jeffersonville, Indiana fatal shooting.

Jeffersonville Police responded to the shooting at the French Quarter Apartments off of Eighth Street. They responded there just after 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Police say the victim, a 25-year-old man, did not live at the apartments.  Family members identify him as Paris Hamilton, but couldn't say what he was doing there.  They say he should not have been visiting anyone there, because he was under house arrest.

His arrest record contains several charges, including armed robbery and dealing cocaine.  He was charged two months ago with violating probation.

Family members are asking anyone with information to come forward.  The victim's sister, Erica Hamilton, said Tuesday, "I loved my brother to death, it's just not right.  They gotta put the guns down, it's not right, not right, just to kill somebody over something stupid."

"There may have been some relationship, what that relationship is, we do not know," said Det. Sgt. Todd Hollis with Jeffersonville Police.  He said they're talking to witnesses who were nearby when the shooting happened.
