LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police are asking for the public's help to find the person who robbed an elderly woman in the parking lot of a local mall.
According to LMPD spokeswoman Carey Klain, it happened around 11 a.m. on Nov. 6 in the Jefferson Mall parking lot near the Macy's storefront. That's where police say a woman in her 80s was about to get into her vehicle when she was approached by a man who asked for a ride.
When the woman refused, police say the suspect shoved her to the ground. Then he climbed into her vehicle, stole her purse and got into the passenger side of a black, late model compact car -- possibly a Toyota Corolla -- and left the scene.
Police say the suspect showed up at a Shell station at the Outer Loop and Preston Highway, where the victim's credit card was used to make purchases. The suspect and the vehicle were recorded on the store's surveillance system.
A short time later, the victim's credit card was subsequently used at the Walmart at Standiford Plaza Drive to purchase Nintendo games from the electronics department.
At each location, the suspect was the passenger in the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was not seen and there is no description.
The suspect is described as a white male in his 20s, between 5'9" and 6' with light facial stubble. When last seen he was wearing a tan coat and dark toboggan. Police say the suspect's front teeth were noticeably stained or decaying.
