LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- The Louisville Orchestra will provide live music for some performances of the Louisville Ballet's performances of The Nutcracker. A clash with the orchestra musicians' union and financial difficulties led to cancellations of the orchestra's performances with the ballet last season.
Brown-Forman made the donation that will make those performances possible. The orchestra will perform with the Louisville Ballet on December 8, 9, 14, 15 and 16. The Ballet will perform to recorded music on December 21, 22 and 23.
The Louisville Ballet says it will work with ticket holders if they want to switch to performances featuring live music. It also says that beginning on November 26, tickets for performances featuring the orchestra will have what it calls a "small premium" added to help pay for conductors.
