LG&E, KU customers to see gas and electric rate increase

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- LG&E and Kentucky Utilities customers will see higher bills, but they'll also have longer to pay them.

Under a new agreement, LG&E natural gas rates would go up about seven percent and electricity about five percent.

KU customers would pay about six percent more for electricity.

However, customers will now have 16 days past their due date to pay the bill before a late charge is applied. The late payment fee has been lowered from five percent to three percent.

The changes, if approved by the KPSC, would take effect January 1st.
