LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The man accused of killing a Marion County deputy sheriff has been released from the hospital, police say.

49-year-old Dewayne Shipp is still recovering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the leg that required surgery. He has been taken to the Kentucky State Reformatory in La Grange.

Police say Shipp shot and killed Marion County Deputy Sheriff Anthony Rakes last Wednesday during a traffic stop. Rakes was laid to rest on Saturday.

Shipp has been charged with murder and police are still investigating the situation.
