LMPD officers hand out traditional Thanksgiving meals in Parkland and Portland

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Hundreds of Louisville families will enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal this year courtesy of the Louisville Metro Police Department.

Uniformed officers on Tuesday handed out turkeys, green beans, corn, stuffing, and yams to 130 families in the Parkland and Portland neighborhoods.

The recipients are identified by the police officers who work the streets in those neighborhoods every day.  Sgt. William Hibbs with LMPD explains, "There's a lot of really really good people here in the Portland neighborhood and we enjoy it. It gives us a chance to meet on a positive note."

Dare to Care, Kentucky Harvest, and an anonymous donor helped supply the food donations.
