Center for Women & Families asking for gift card donations

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- While you're out shopping today, you might think of someone else in need.

The Center for Women and Families launched its annual gift card campaign.

This year, leaders hope to raise 1,000 $25 gift cards to "big box" stores like Kohl's, Walmart and Target.

The gift cards will be spread among the center's clients in seven counties in Kentucky, and the shelter in Indiana.

"These folks have left everything behind to find safety for themselves and their kids, so anything we can do to normalize and empower the clients that are here to have an experience of being home, or of doing what we all love to do, is what we try to do," said Marta Miranda, with the Center for Women and Families.

You can mail in your gift card donation or drop it off at the center's downtown Louisville headquarters, or the southern Indiana campus in New Albany.
