The Jeffersonville Ice Rink is open in time for the holidays. The outdoor skating rink is on the corner of Spring and Market Streets.
The City decided to bring it back this year after a successful 2011 holiday season. More than 10,000 skaters and 25,000 visitors came to the area. Keith Kaiser was able to check out ice.
From now until December 21st, the rink will be open Sunday through Thursday from 4 p.m. 8 p.m. and Friday through Saturday from noon until 9 p.m. The rink is open on Christmas Even from noon to 4 p.m. but is closed Christmas Day. It's open regular hours on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. After January 6 the rink will only be open on Fridays, Saturday and Sunday.
Friday's are teen nights with a DJ from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. You can skate with Santa on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. On Tuesdays, it's Eat Local Night. Kids can skate for $4 with a Jeffersonville restaurant receipt. On Thursdays, it's Shop Local Night. Kids skate for $4 with a Jeffersonville Merchant Receipt.
On December 9th there will be a special performance of Nutcracker on Ice at 11 a.m. And on Saturday, December 22nd there's even an ugly Christmas Sweater Party. You can get $2 off admission if you ear an "ugly" Christmas sweater.
