LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Indianapolis State Police say a 13-year-old runaway driving a stolen car crashed in southern Indiana after a brief chase.
It happened just before 6:30 Monday morning when police say a trooper saw a car headed southbound on I-65 in southern Indiana speeding up and slowing down and swerving onto the emergency strip. The trooper tried to stop the car, but it took off and exited onto SR 58.
A news release says the car was going too quickly to make the turn and it rolled down an embankment onto its top.
The 13-year-old girl who was driving had been reported as a runaway. She was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
A 17-year-old boy was also reported as a runaway. He was flown to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. His injuries have not been reported.
Police believe the car was stolen from the Indianapolis area.
