LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Oldham County school board members voted on some big changes for the district Monday night.
The school board voted to close Liberty Elementary school at the end of next school year.
The board also put plans to build a new elementary school on hold.
It was planning to open Brownsboro Elementary for the 2014-15 school year, but that has been delayed.
Oldham County believes its enrollment numbers will drop, after years of increases
Dr. Will Wells, Oldham County Schools Superintendent, says, "We were projected to grow 200-300 students in the elementary ranks but these new projections show a different story. They're showing we'll actually decrease enrollment for the next 3 to 5 years"
The school board plans to build the new school as planned, when enrollment increases again.
