Former U of L basketball, football player sues JCPS

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- A former U of L basketball and football player fired from JCPS has sued the school district.  Joshua Tinch claims he was terminated wrongfully and without due process.

Tinch was fired from his job as a teacher at Iroquois High School after investigators claimed he had an inappropriate relationship with a student.  He was not charged because the Commonwealth Attorney's Office says it did not have enough evidence.

Tinch is suing the superintendent, several district officials, and former spokesperson Lauren Roberts for talking to the media about the case.  He claims they leaked word of the investigation to the public without notifying him.

Tinch is seeking damages from all the defendants, but didn't specify an amount.
