LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- University of Louisville head football coach Charlie Strong has denied that he has interviewed for a coaching job at Auburn.
"I have not interviewed for the Auburn job," Strong told WDRB News' Steve Andress through a sports information director. Andress is with the team in New Jersey.
Strong's comments were not on camera. He also denied the allegation to two prominent sports writers late Wednesday night. His denial came shortly after a flurry of internet news reports cited that Strong had interviewed for the top job at the SEC school to replace Gene Chizik.
Strong and other U of L athletic administrators are in New Jersey for Thursday's game against Rutgers. The initial reports from an Alabama newspaper said that Strong had interviewed for the Tigers top job in the last two days. The story indicated the interview may have happened over the phone.
Strong, through a spokesman, is strongly denying that he's interviewed for the job. Stay tuned to wdrb.com and this broadcast channel for further updates.
