LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Vectren has been ordered to pay a $100,000 fine over a natural gas explosion last year in New Albany. The blast destroyed a home and injured six people.
The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission issued the order after reviewing the actions leading up to the explosion. It found that crews for a subsidiary of Vectren damaged the gas line while doing drilling work and didn't alert emergency officials before the explosion an hour later.
Company officials say they take full responsibility and have made safety changes.
