LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Spalding University's baseball team went to bat to fight diabetes on Friday.

The team, along with their coach, spent the morning getting their facial hair shaved off.  Players decided to grow it out for No Shave November and bring awareness to diabetes.

One of their teammates was recently diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes.

Jeff Gersch says the help is worth, "A big thank you. It's awesome they did this for me. I don't think anyone else would have done something like this for me. I'm very thankful."

The team raised $1,000 for the American Diabetes Association.
