UPS plane turns back, makes safe landing

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) --  A UPS spokesman has confirmed that a UPS plane heading from Louisville to Houston made an emergency landing Tuesday night.

UPS spokesman Mike Mangeot says the pilot of the plane turned back after detecting smoke inside the aircraft while in flight around 9:00 p.m. Tuesday.

The plane made a safe landing 15 minutes later, Mangeot says. There were no injuries reported.

The plane will now be taken to a maintenance facility. Crews aren't yet sure exactly what the problem was.
