State suspends pain clinic doctor's license

LOUISVILLE, Ky.  (WDRB) -- The state of Indiana has suspended the license of a Clark County doctor at the center of a controversial pain management clinic.

The Indiana Medical Licensing Board Thursday granted Attorney General Greg Zoeller's request for Dr. Lea Marlow's license to be suspended.

That will remain the case until another hearing late next month.

Marlow runs the Clark County Wellness Center in Jeffersonville.

The state says she wrote more than 8,000 prescriptions this year alone, mostly for oxycodone.  Many were written from the Jeffersonville clinic; others were written in Kentucky.

Neighbors had complained that the clinic has increased crime and traffic in the area.

Jeffersonville mayor Mike Moore says the city will send the pain clinic a letter, saying it has 15 days to close the business.

We could not reach Marlow for comment.  The clinic operator has refused comment since before it opened last summer.
