LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- White Castle is helping save children's lives across Kentuckiana. Restaurant customers made a big donation possible.
Tuesday afternoon, White Castle donated $500,000 to Kosair Children's Hospital. The money will provide a new expanded family space for patients at the hospital.
It will be named the White Castle NICU Family Center and will include a dining area, lounge, kitchenette, showers, and restrooms.
The NICU serves premature infants and babies born with conditions requiring advanced care or surgery. The lounge will allow family members of those babies to have a home away from home during care.
A former Kosair patient and her family who happen to work for White Castle helped present the money to the hospital.
Hayley Sparks said, "I just want to thank God for letting me have this life and letting me live through cancer and I just wanted to thank all you doctors for helping me survive cancer."
The money was raised during White Castle's annual customer appreciation donation campaigns which began in 2007. That means if you gave during the campaigns you likely helped make the donation to Kosair possible.
