Poll shows McConnell unpopular, still likely to keep seat

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A new poll shows Kentucky's Mitch McConnell is the most unpopular Senator in the country.

The Public Policy Polling agency says only 37 percent of Kentucky voters approve of McConnell, while 55 percent disapprove.

Even so, it says he's likely to keep his seat, the next time he's up for election.

In a test election, actress Ashley Judd, Lieutenant Governor Jerry Abramson, and Attorney General Jack Conway all came within four points, but none could beat McConnell.

The agency says that's because most Republicans would still vote for him, before they would support a Democrat.
