LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- When the new year begins, Kentucky residents will have a choice of Medicaid plans.
Passport has been the long-time Kentucky Medicaid provider, but starting in 2013 they're adding three more: CoventryCares, Humana, and WellCare.
The state assigned all 175-thousand Medicaid members in the area to one of the four plans.
What people may not know, is that they can switch providers to a plan that fits their needs.
It's important to double check that your current health care providers accept your new plan.
Ben Keeton, publisher of Medical News, says, "So make sure you understand what health plan you're on. If you like the health plan you're fine, if you don't like the health plan get some help make sure that you're getting the right plan for you and your children."
