LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Governor Beshear says he's excited about what's happening with Kentucky Kingdom.
In a radio interview, he said there is progress in reopening the amusement park.
Beshear divulged that there was only one bid submitted to the state to reopen Kentucky Kingdom.
He would not say who, but developer Ed Hart told WDRB in October that he submitted a bid to pump $120 million into the defunct park.
On Tuesday, Beshear also said the state is fairly close to negotiating a lease for the property. He says if the fair board approves it, the next step would be for the bidder to get financing.
Hart's plan does not require state money, which eliminates another hurdle.
Kentucky Kingdom closed in 2009 after the operators had a disagreement over the lease.
