LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police say a Christmas present from the Philippines got a Louisville man in big trouble.
According to an arrest report, officers found 39-year-old Gregory S. Poteet "slumped over the wheel" of his 2013 Chevy Impala at the Burger King on Dixie Hwy., near the intersection of 7th St. Road and Crums Lane, shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Police say he was parked sideways in the drive-thru lane, and his flashers were on.
When police questioned Poteet, he allegedly had slurred speech, red, glassy eyes, and he kept falling asleep. Police say he told them he took some Xanax an hour earlier.
As officers searched his car, they allegedly found several Xanax bars. Police say they also found an opened Christmas package -- shipped from the Philippines -- that contained more Xanax, as well as several pills and a small amount of marijuana.
Poteet was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, reckless driving, possession of a controlled substance, trafficking in a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana, according to an arrest report.
