LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man is behind bars after almost running over his wife last month!

Police reports say Dennis Compton's wife refused to give him his car keys last month because he was drunk -- so he took her purse, with the keys inside, and tried to drive off.

His wife held onto the windshield wipers, but eventually fell off. She suffered severe bruising, and lacerations to her face and head.

Compton was arrested yesterday and charged with assault and wanton endangerment.
