Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer allegedly assaulted

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police have released the name of the man who was arrested in connection with the alleged assault on Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer.

Kentucky State Police say they arrested 18-year-old Kanissa'ai Thompson at his home on Grady Loop Road in Adair County on Thursday afternoon.

Thompson has been charged with assault in connection with the incident, which happened in the early morning hours on December 9.

The Lindsey Wilson College President says the party happened at the Red Barn, which is about four miles from campus.

He says it was not a school event and the apparent fight did not involve a Lindsey Wilson student.

Meyer was treated at Westlake Hospital Sunday and reportedly had to get staples in his head from cuts suffered during the assault.

Meyer was awarded the Medal of Honor last year for his actions in Afghanistan.

Thompson is now behind bars at the Adair County Jail.
