Post Office gets ready for its busiest day

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- The U.S. Post office is getting ready for its busiest day.  Monday is supposed to be the busiest USPS mailing day of the year.

It's expected that the post office will deliver a record-breaking 365 million packages this holiday season.

Alisa Zanetti of the post office says, "Today the working families and the blended families, everybody is shopping online because of Black Friday and Monday, so we expect our package volume to be up almost 20% just in priority mail alone, increasing air cargo by 35%.  170,000 will be out on our fleet from east coast to west coast.

If you want those holiday packages to arrive by Christmas, there are the mailing deadlines:

Dec. 14  PARCEL POST

Dec. 17  GLOBAL EXPRESS GUARANTEED

Dec. 20  FIRST-CLASS MAIL

Dec. 21 P RIORITY MAIL

Dec. 22  EXPRESS MAIL
