LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A local woman is making the holidays a little brighter for the local homeless population.
Brenda Griggs prepared a hot meal at the Catholic Enrichment Center on Saturday for the less fortunate living in the Louisville area.
It's a plan she's had for five years, and it's finally coming together with help from the community.
Volunteers helped Griggs prepare the meal.
They also put together care packages full of personal hygiene items for those in need.
"I would really like to do it every day of the year, but I know a lot of them this time of year don't have anything, so I felt like if we could feed them, give them a gift bag, and say a prayer...that's what I wanted to do," says Griggs.
Though this is the first year for the event, Griggs hopes to make it an annual tradition.
