LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A group that feeds the needy has reached a major milestone.
Kids Against Hunger Louisville has made it possible for 500,000 children to have a meal, with the help of Kentuckiana volunteers.
City Life Shawnee made it happen when it partnered with the organization to send 5,000 meals to orphans in Romania.
Each meal costs just a quarter.
"Our kids have decided they weren't going to buy a bag of chips this week, or they were going to go do some extra work for a cousin to try to get some extra quarters so they could come and give for these orphans in Romania," says City Life Shawnee director Chad Rehnberg.
The meals contain a high protein specially formulated mix of soy, rice, dried veggies and 21 vitamins and minerals.
