BARBOURVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- An eastern Kentucky woman accused of fatally shooting a man she was supposed to be caring for has entered a not guilty plea to a murder charge.
The Times Tribune reports that 49-year-old Charlene Sue King of Barbourville entered the plea Tuesday in Knox County Circuit Court. She faces the charge in the death of 75-year-old Earl Carter of Barbourville. King, who was the victim's caregiver, called dispatchers to report the shooting in November, saying Carter "was trying to take advantage" of her.
Carter's stepson, Gary Craig of Corbin, said he doesn't believe her allegations, noting that the older man suffered heart problems.
