Weather causes traffic problems, delays schools

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Snowy, windy weather created some traffic problems Friday morning and closed some schools.

All northbound lanes of Interstate 65 were closed at mile marker 34 near Austin, Ind. briefly because of a fatal crash. The interstate has since re-opened.

US-31 remains closed near that location, due to the same crash.

The Kentucky Department of Transportation says roads in Oldham, Henry, and Trimble County are being treated. Jefferson, Shelby and Franklin counties are seeing some slick areas and are treating elevated surfaces such as bridges and flyover ramps. Bullitt and Spencer counties are monitoring the roadways but have dry pavement with a few flurries.

Officials warn that Interstate 64 between I-65 and the Sherman Minton Bridge is slick and can be hazardous.

Jennings County, Seymour Community and Mitchell Community Schools in Indiana are all closed.

Scott County District 2 Paoli Community and East Washington Schools in Indiana are on a two-hour delay.

And in Kentucky, Anchorage Independent schools are on a one-hour delay.
