Rick Pitino speaks out on guns, NRA

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- U of L Head Basketball Coach Rick Pitino offered his opinion about gun control Friday, in the wake of the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary.

Pitino's comments come after his former mentor Jim Boeheim at Syracuse called for a ban on assault rifles Monday, following Boeheim's 900th win.

Pitino weighed in, not only on guns, but the NRA, saying, "There can be no good that comes out of that, except immediate gun control.  Because all of us, who are not even related to those children, shed a tear all the time thinking about it.  Don't give me excuses about how this is just an insane person...that's not just the way it is.  Guns...we don't need guns in our society...no one's going to take away your hunting license."

He continued, "This is not Wyatt Earp going down the street, and we need to have a challenge.  I mean, I don't have any respect for people with their own agendas and not our country's agenda."
