LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky State Police say they have arrested a man who stole $1,000 in merchandise from the back of a delivery truck while the driver was asleep in the cab.

Police say 36-year-old Tracey Hart backed his car up to a tractor trailer that was waiting to make a delivery at the Dollar General on Elizabethtown Road in Big Clifty.

The driver was asleep in the cab, but woke up when he heard a noise and found that the seal had been broken on his tractor trailer and $1,000 in merchandise was missing.

The driver saw Hart's car driving away and was able to give police a description. Several minutes later, Hart was arrested.

Hart has been charged with receiving stolen property, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, driving under the influence, careless driving, driving without insurance, and failure to wear a seatbelt.

All merchandise was returned to the Dollar General.

Hart is now in the Hardin County Jail.
