LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- The opening of a new pedestrian bridge on the Ohio River in Louisville will be delayed a month or more because its railings have not been delivered.
Waterfront development officials say the opening of the converted Big Four railroad bridge would likely be in late January or early February.
Officials had hoped to open the bridge to the public by the end of the year, with a formal dedication in mid-2013 when the Indiana approach to the bridge is due to be completed, but now say the railings are not expected to be delivered until mid-January.
The Big Four opened in 1895 and last train crossed in the 1960s.
