LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A touch of holiday goodwill comes early to Wayside Christian Mission downtown.
It's an annual Christmas Eve tradition, and the down by Dayside choir kicked of the festivities.
Wayside Christian Mission's Christmas Eve party is a way to share the holidays with the homeless.
The community came together to support hundreds of people on Monday night.
Piles of presents filled the room, each family and single woman received a gift bag this year sponsored by individuals, businesses and churches.
Volunteers handed out food, while others donated their time and money all in the spirit of Christmas.
"This could be the lowest point for some people in their life to be in a homeless shelter on Christmas Day. What we try to do especially for the families, is to make some good memories for them, give them a little normalcy celebrating the holiday," said Nina Moseley, from Wayside Christian.
The festivities continue Tuesday morning with breakfast starting at 6:00. There will be lots of entertainment including music and games. Volunteers will also serve Christmas lunch and dinner.
