LMPD investigating fatal shooting

Posted: Updated:

Louisville, Ky. (WDRB) -- Homicide detectives spent the early hours of Christmas investigating a fatal shooting.

Police were called to the area of 24th Street and Portland Avenue just after midnight on a report of a shooting. When they arrived, they found a white male in his early 20s. He was taken to University Hospital where he died a short time later.

Louisville Metro Police spokesman Dwight Mitchell tells WDRB that a bicycle found on a nearby sidewalk is part of the investigation, but he said it was unclear what happened.

Crime scene tape crossed in front of holiday lights, as police canvassed the area for witnesses. Police do not have any suspects. Anyone with information is being asked to call the LMPD tip line at 574-LMPD (5673). Callers can remain anonymous. @
