Indiana woman sworn into State Supreme Court makes history

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- It was a historic day in Indiana as a woman officially takes a role only one woman has had before.

Loretta Rush was sworn in as a State Supreme Court justice Friday morning.

She's been serving on the state's high court since last month, but a formal ceremony was held today.

Governor Mitch Daniels picked Rush to replace Justice Frank Sullivan Jr., who stepped down in July.

The governor administered a private oath to her last month so that Rush could begin her court duties.
