LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police have arrested a Louisville man after they say he drove over the mother of his child, then tried to cover it up.
It happened shortly after 8:30 p.m. on New Year' Eve.
Police say 30-year-old Cory Cheatham was driving his Ford Explorer on Lake Dreamland Road, when he got into an argument with the mother of his child, who was also in the vehicle. Police say at some point the woman fell out of the car and was run over, sustaining "major injuries to her arms, legs and torso."
Cheatham drove her downtown to Norton Hospital, and from there, she was rushed to University Hospital.
Police say Cheatham initially told them he witnessed the woman being run over by someone else's vehicle.
Eventually, officers say, he admitted that he ran over her with his own vehicle.
Cheatham was arrested and charged with assault and falsely reporting an incident. The condition of the woman is not known.
