Democratic lawmaker wants to ban death penalty in Kentucky

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - A Kentucky lawmaker wants to ban the death penalty in Kentucky.

Democratic Rep. Carl Rollins wants to push the legislation through this upcoming session. His bill would make "life in prison without the possibility of parole" Kentucky's toughest sentence.

A death penalty ban has been introduced before, but has never gotten enough support to pass.

The last Kentucky inmate put to death was convicted murderer Marco Allen Chapman, in 2008.
