Ammo ignites in gun repair shop fire

LOUISVILLE, Ky.  (WDRB) -- Nervous moments for Camp Taylor firefighters Thursday afternoon.

They heard shots as they pulled up to a fire at a gun repair shop.

The shots came from ammunition burning inside the shop.

No one was hurt.

Firefighters needed just a few minutes to put out the fire in Danny's Gun Repair on Bishop Lane.

The deputy fire chief at the scene, Steve Adkins, said tenants of a neighboring business smelled smoke and called for help.

The business had been closed for about half-an-hour before the fire, Adkins said.

Arson investigators and ATF agents are looking into the cause.

Firefighters responded after 4 p.m. and cleared the scene about four hours later.
