LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police say they've arrested a 35-year-old Louisville man after he was caught trying to break into a college dorm.

It happened at 2 a.m. on Saturday, at the corner of Bank St. and N. 24th St.

Police say witnesses saw 35-year-old Phillip J. Earhart walk toward the building and try to open all the windows. He then allegedly climbed up onto the roof and tried to gain access to the building from there.

When officers arrived, Earhart was allegedly seen trying to pull the vents off of the building in an attempt to get inside.

The building was a dorm for college students, according to police. Earhart did not live there and had no reason to be there, police say.

He was arrested at the scene and charged with second degree attempted burglary.
