LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Metro Police have arrested one person they believe was involved in stealing equipment from a local high school.

Metro Police have recovered most of the stolen lawn equipment missing from North Oldham High School at a home in the Portland neighborhood.

Police say a tip led them to the house, where they found the stolen lawn equipment in the backyard.

"It surprised me what they actually did steal, and what they're going to do with it I have no idea here in Louisville because that's some major stuff," said Benjamin Catlett, who lives nearby.

The suspect, James McGuffin, locked himself in the house for several hours. Police had to wait for a warrant before they could get in and arrest him.

Police believe McGuffin ditched the school's band trailer in West Louisville on Jan. 7; they say he stole the equipment sometime on Jan. 6.

Monday night, police recovered the trailer used to steal several big ticket items from the school, including ATVs, and a couple lawn mowers.

Police took another woman away in handcuffs and are currently questioning her. Neighbors tell us she is McGuffin's girlfriend.

Schools officials say they are relieved that all the stolen equipment has been recovered.
