LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- A man is behind bars, charged with a Christmas Eve murder in west Louisville. 19-year-old Steven Thompson was found after police say they received some good tips.
Officers say Thompson was at the Judicial Center on an unrelated charge and was arrested for the murder of 20-year-old Dante Newsome.
This morning, he faced a judge and his bond was set at $500,000.
Police say on Christmas Eve, Thompson pulled a gun on Newsome at a home at 40th and Market streets and tried to rob him. As Newsome was trying to get away, police say Thompson shot him several times.
Five other people were at the home at the time. LMPD Lt. Barry Wilkerson explains, "The wanton endangerment charges were added from the rounds going through the house and the tampering with physical evidence is due to the fact that he left the scene and tried to actually discard clothing to obviously hide his appearance."
