Local gun owners say new firearm regulations not needed

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Local gun owners say new firearm regulations being pushed in Washington will not solve the problem of mass shootings.

Wayne McLeod of the Southern Indiana Rifle and Pistol Club tells WDRB News, "There is no way to prevent an individual bent on causing harm from doing so. They will simply use a chair or an ice pick."  McLeod says the real answer is education and people taking more responsibility with the weapons.

Next Saturday, gun owners are being urged to show up in droves at gun stores, ranges, and shows from coast to coast for "National Gun Appreciation Day."

Organizers hope the move will send a message to President Obama.
