Pit bull bites off 10-year-old Kentucky boy's nose

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- A pit bull bit off a 10-year-old boy's nose, but surgeons put the nose back on.

It happened earlier this week in Henderson County, Kentucky and today Matthew Weaver is being treated at Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville.

Police say Weaver was visiting friends when the dog attacked his face and swallowed his nose.  The pit bull has been put to sleep and a veterinarian was able to recover the nose from the animal's stomach.

Weaver is in good condition.

The dog's owner told police he got the animal as a puppy and it had never shown signs of aggression.
