LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police say a Louisville man was using a scanner to print counterfeit federal reserve notes -- and several businesses throughout Metro Louisville suffered as a result.

According to an arrest report, 33-year-old Brian Dale Vincent was taking genuine federal reserve notes in $1 and $5 denominations -- that had been bleached and washed -- and using the scanner to modify their appearance to make them look like $100 notes.

He would then pass these counterfeit notes on to various businesses throughout Louisville. Police say the businesses lost an approximate total of $7,000 in real money due to Vincent's actions.

Some of his crimes were observed on surveillance video, according to police.

Vincent has been charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument and possession of a forgery device, police say.
